What do you think of when imagining Japanese food? Most people think "Sushi". And if you think sushi you probably think "Raw Fish". At least if you haven't had Japanese food before this might be your conclusion. In my experience I have found that of those who have tried sushi, there are those who love it and those who don't. What does that leave? It leave a whole lot of people who just don't know what Japanese food is all about. I want to talk with you for a minute. First, try and get rid of the notion that it is all about fish. It isn't. Sure in Japan the majority of food consumption is from the ocean. But, that’s not all. Not even close. Just like a lot of cultures, we prepare and eat lots of food using that ancient technique, "Fire". Meat, poultry, vegetables and grain are a large part of Japanese cuisine. We also love our fried food too. So given that Japanese food is much more than sushi I would describe it as, using the purest and freshest ingredients in its simplest way to accentuate the natural flavors and heighten the experience for all your senses. I know it’s a bit wordy but, it’s true. The Japanese are a people that take anything from business, painting, farming etc... even food and make it into a discipline art. So the next time you are thinking of going out to eat or someone talking about Japanese food, remember it's "NOT JUST SUSHI". Try us here in Downtown Missoula. I promise you will love it... |
